Political Communication: Dilemmas and Strategies
Herbert W. Simons, PhD
Dilemma-centered theory and analysis of issues in the news, with DVDs providing case studies for use in class discussions. DVDs to include: 1) ISIS propaganda clips; 2) election ads for contested Senate and House races; 3) political satire; 4) exemplary analyses of “crazy political systems” (e.g. Tom Englehardt on US “Intelligence” and “surveillance” systems as counter-productive); 5) clips of war and media; 6) clips of major presidential speeches (i.e., Obama on immigration).
