Painting and Collage, Bringing Out the Artist in Everyone

Aside from being a lot of fun, this class takes the pressure away from painting specific objects. Collages are constructed from swatches hand painted in the class. We paint, following demonstrated techniques with a variety of tools and materials. Once completed, we cut our paintings apart, creating swatches to assemble into collages. We place and glue the swatches in place much like designing a patchwork quilt. A supply list will be provided.
Pre-requisite: willingness to experiment and have fun.

Instructor’s Bio:

Susan Stevens, teaches painting and collage at OLLI because she loves it. She has taught similar classes to children, teenagers, and adults AND she specializes in working with people who were told they have no talent when they were children... but she welcomes accomplished artists as well. She has taught in Mexico, Chicago, Michigan, and Philadelphia.

Why when I’m registering do I join the Wait List?
Several of our courses are in high demand. In order to accommodate our members who are not tech-savvy and have trouble registering online, we created a registration system in which there is no advantage to registering early, no disadvantage to registering later.

When registering, you join the Wait List for each course. Don’t be alarmed. This does not mean the course is full. After the registration period is over, we run a lottery on the courses, and it randomly determines who is admitted to each course and who is not. You typically will receive notification regarding which courses you are admitted to, about two weeks before the start of the semester. If a course accepts 150 or more students, you are very likely to get into it.
