Course Description

Drawing and the Elements of Composition
Ruth Erenberg, BA
The goal of this class is to understand and apply the elements of composition to our drawings using pencil, pastels, and pen and ink. The class is for everyone: people who have a lot of experience drawing and would like to improve, as well as those who have never drawn before and would like to give it a try. Observation will be emphasized. Examples of a few of the techniques we will use are: blind contour drawing, analysis of a picture plane, still life, mixing and use of colors, working from photos and perspective.
