Course Description

Protective services caseworkers often encounter situations when the adult or older adult in need of protective services would benefit from decision-making supports. Supports range from informal support systems such as family members to court-supervised supports like guardianship.

This training will provide protective services caseworkers with an understanding of guardianship, powers of attorney, advanced health care directives, and representative payees; explain the purpose of each, and identify applications to protective services. The doctrine of least restrictive alternatives and its use in protective services will also be discussed.

  • Individual registration is required.
  • Enrollment is only available to adult protective services (APS) and older adults protective services (OAPS) staff and is not available to the public.

In order to receive PDA Protective Services credit hours, participants must:

  • Video and audio are required to be on for the duration with the camera positioned for the entire face on the screen.
  • Certificates will be issued upon successful completion.
