In this session, attendees will learn the fundamentals of LGBTQ+ competency, including appropriate terminology, variations in the LGBTQ+ experience from an intersectional perspective, and social determinants of health impacting LGBTQ+ individuals. The interactive presentation will include a discussion of the social and political issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities, strategies for countering marginalization, trauma, and other barriers to care, and best practices for inclusive and affirming service provision.
