Course Description

Work requires us to make change in ways that include formal power. This course uses principles and approaches grounded in persuasion and influence to help you make a bigger impact in your organization. You will develop your ability to lead change by understanding the needs of your stakeholders, identifying and managing resistance, communicating effectively, and building buy-in. This course provides the essential toolkit to help you lead and motivate others through any organizational change effort.

Vanessa Williams is the Assistant Director of Continuing Education for Temple University’s Off-Campus Programs and Training. She completed her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania in August 2017. Previously the department’s Instructional Designer/Trainer, she has extensive experience designing and delivering training programs for adult learners on a range of topics, including emotional intelligence, customer service, and business writing. She has also designed and taught classes for undergraduates at Penn, Temple, and the University of Southampton (UK). She is a Gallup-certified Strengths-Based Coach, and leads strengths-based coaching sessions for teams and individuals. She teaches emotional intelligence, introduction to strengths-based coaching, and portfolio review for Temple’s Office of Non-Credit Programs and Training.

Nicole Westrick is an experienced project manager with more than 20 years of experience managing complex projects across a range of industries. Nicole uses a people-first approach oriented around an environment of teamwork and collaboration that is unified by a shared vision. Her strong communication and process mapping/design skills allow her to identify and resolve a variety of problems encountered during most projects. She is Associate Vice Provost of University College and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Temple University.

A participant who withdraws from a non-credit course, in writing, up to one-week prior to the starting date of the course, will receive a refund, minus a $25 withdrawal fee; for all certificate programs the withdrawal fee is $50. For courses costing $75 or less, the withdrawal fee is $10 per course. No refunds will be given after that time. E-mail your withdrawal request to: course.withdrawals@temple.edu. Please note that if you do not officially withdrawal from a course and you do not attend the course, you are still responsible for payment. Temple University reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason. If the course is cancelled, you will be notified and your entire tuition will be refunded.
