Behavioral Care Outside the Binary

Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours or units will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg.
This program has been approved for 1 Social Work Continuing Education hour. Temple University Harrisburg is a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors preapproved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal.

In a session from the 2020 Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health conference, Dr. Chang covers how to break out of the binary when approaching behavioral Health care for clients.Learner Outcomes
By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Describe how colonialism has shaped current conceptions of gender identity and expression
- Discuss the lives and experiences of people whose identities do not align with the colonialist/binary models of gender
- Identify and explain common challenges that nonbianry people face when seeking health services
- Apply clinical skills described in this presentation in working with nonbianry people
