Course Description

Discover how to write powerful SQL queries that enable you to retrieve data from one table or from multiple tables stored in the database simultaneously. In this course, you will learn how to retrieve more meaningful data from one or more tables stored in a database. You will learn how to merge data from multiple columns, how to create calculated fields, and how to order and group the results from a query. You will also learn how to create a single join query or subquery to obtain data from multiple tables simultaneously.

Students should have a competency in the Introductory level of SQL (ONCE1187)

Course outcomes

  • Be able to create queries that contain calculated fields.
  • Learn how to use the SQL ORDER BY, GROUP BY and HAVING clause.
  • Understand how to use create SQL table joins and subqueries to query multiple tables simultaneously.

Instructor: Dr. Cecelia Allison is an experienced software tester and technical specialist with more than 15 years of hands-on experience using and teaching SQL. She is also a technical writer, a published author, and a university professor. She holds a Bachelor of Science in finance, a Master of Science in information systems and a Doctor of Business Administration in management information systems.
