Course Description

JEWS OF LATIN AMERICA
Natan Szapiro

4 week class March 9 - March 30
Tuesdays, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM
Jewish Latin America is usually relegated to the margins in discussions of both Latin America and the Jewish world. It is true that, with fewer than one million Jews, Latin America’s Jewish communities comprise a small proportion of the world’s Jews, and an even smaller portion of Latin America’s population. But the story of Jews in Latin America helps illuminate broader aspects of Jewish history and of the history of the Latin American countries in which they settled.

Class limit: 150

Notes

Why when I'm registering do I join the wait list?
Several of our courses are in high demand. In order to accommodate our members who are not tech-savvy and have trouble registering online-we created a registration system in which there is no advantage to registering early, no disadvantage to registering later. When you register, you join the wait list for the course. After the registration period is over, we run a lottery on the courses, and it randomly determines who is admitted to each course and who is not. You typically receive word about which courses you are admitted to, two weeks before the start of the semester.

When will I be notified which classes I have been admitted to?
We typically notify our members about which courses they are admitted to at least two weeks before the semester starts.
