Indian short story and novel writer Jhumpa Lahiri’s first novel explores the difficult internal and societal issues frequently faced by immigrants and immigrant families. From the very name(s) of the young main character to his lonely pursuit of a sense of belonging, from the concept of the ABCD (American-Born Confused Deshi) to his father’s battered copy of Gogol’s short stories, we accompany Gogol Ganguli on his urgent search for an authentic identity.

Notes
Why when I'm registering do I join the wait list?
Several of our courses are in high demand. In order to accommodate our members who are not tech-savvy and have trouble registering online-we created a registration system in which there is no advantage to registering early, no disadvantage to registering later. When you register, you join the wait list for the course. After the registration period is over, we run a lottery on the courses, and it randomly determines who is admitted to each course and who is not. You typically receive word about which courses you are admitted to, two weeks before the start of the semester.
When will I be notified which classes I have been admitted to?
We typically notify our members about which courses they are admitted to at least two weeks before the semester starts.
