Course Description
This training will have a direct impact on the importance of engagement with fathers and father figures to move towards a “Full Family Engagement Model.” The training will provide information and education around personal and professional barriers that interfere with father involvement in social services. It will also cover the benefits of having fathers, father figures, and paternal relatives involved, which correlates directly to case decision-making practices. Information will also be provided on
co-parenting, engaging mothers as gatekeepers, legal rights on child support and paternity, young fatherhood parenting, and empowering fathers.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
· Identify at least 4 internal (personal) and external (societal) views of the importance of fatherhood.
· Articulate the importance of a father’s role in the journey for permanency and how fatherlessness impacts the community.
When participants return to the workplace, they will be able to:
· Engage fathers in permanency planning.
· Deliver information on child support and legal rights to fathers.
