HRLD0001 - Was It Something I Said?
Course Description
Communication is the basis for all human interactions. It is impossible not to communicate because every action, even silence, is a form of communication. Since we engage in verbal, nonverbal and symbolic communication every minute we’re at work, we assume that we communicate well simply because we do it so often. In reality, miscommunication accounts for lost time, decreased productivity, increased interpersonal and inter-group conflicts and low morale. This highly interactive communication certificate program is packed with interesting self-assessment exercises and instruments, role-plays, simulations, and video clips designed to give every participant opportunities to observe and practice effective communication. This certificate program is designed for anyone who wishes to:
* Assess personal communication skills, strengths and developmental areas
* Review verbal, nonverbal and symbolic aspects of communication
* Identify their personal communication/relationship style
* Discuss socio-cultural factors that influence the communication process
* Discern communication “hot buttons”
* Practice effective communication skills including active listening and communicating under pressure
