Evolution: How Did We Get Here?

Instructor: Steve Pollack
6-Week Course on Mondays from October 12?November 16 - 9:00 AM?10:30 AM

Discover how agriculture, imperialism, and slavery have led us to bad ecology, bad politics, and the Anthropocene Era—the new geologic age where man dominates nature instead of nature dominating man. We will highlight the importance of the agricultural revolution and its history of human behavior. We will review human, social, and political evolution since the Agricultural Revolution not only of grain and animals, but of other men, and the development of slavery, racism, colonization, and imperialism. We will explore the legacy of this history and how it affects our future. Also, students will learn about the advancement of trade and money, appearance of nations and religion, and the progression of imperialism and racism, which have led to the formation of the world as we know it today. Finally, we will explore the relationship of these elements to expressions of art, music, and literature.
