Course Description

Join us as we read five sagas of youth searching for the thing that will give meaning to their live through love, family, education, work. We begin with Sally Rooney’s Normal People, story of aspiration and romance. We follow with Penelope Lively’s Moon Tiger, the “book” of an elderly woman’s life in love and work. Next we read Lily King’s Writers and Lovers, a story of writerly ambition caught in a love triangle. We continue with Marie-Helene Bertino’s Parakeet, the journey of a reluctant bride who is trying to find her way through trauma. We end with the transcendent Red at the Bone, Jacqueline Woodson’s masterpiece of hope and meaning through the legacy of loss.

Notes

This class will be held Online in the Fall 2020 Semester.

There will be 2 sections (morning and afternoon), and class meets every-other-week.
