Course Description

This self-paced, 10-hour training (i.e., ~6 hours online modules with 3-4 hours of prep/activities) covers the necessary contact tracing components such as: disease transmission, case isolation and quarantine as a public health measure, ethics/privacy regarding data collection, health equity and vulnerable populations, cultural sensitivity, risk communication, motivational interviewing, and developing rapport/trust. A novel feature of the program is a culminating applied experience where trainees not only conduct an actual contact tracing phone call and receive feedback, but they complete data collection and data entry assessments, which must be successfully “passed” to demonstrate competency. In short, this training will enable people to readily transition into the jurisdiction-specific protocol training offered by local/state public health and start calling.
