IELP3304 - Intermediate Listening Workshop

Course Description

Intermediate Listening Workshop is a technology-enhanced language course for students who wish to primarily develop their listening skills by selecting, reviewing, and analyzing popular English-language podcasts. By the end of the course, students will know how to improve their English through using podcasts. Specifically, students will learn and practice active listening skills in order to turn podcasts into authentic learning materials for vocabulary development and speaking. In addition, students will also be tasked with self-directed learning by identifying and reporting on podcast episodes which they will find and choose on their own. As a final course project, students in small groups will create their own podcast episode and present this to the class.  Each Tuesday, students will practice their skills through interactions with Americans either by engaging in Chatting with Americans sessions.  Attendance in these experiences is required and will count as a class assignment.
