Course Description

COVID-19 will continue to have a disproportionate impact on older adults in the United States, physically and psychosocially. The highest rates of COVID-19–associated hospitalization are among adults over age 65, and the impact of the pandemic on nursing home residents has been particularly devastating. While physical isolation for older adults is critical, it is logistically more challenging and psychosocially more difficult for older adults. Social workers need to be aware of the unique challenges facing older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic, and how this will impact care of some of the most vulnerable members of our society moving forward in our post-pandemic new normal.
