Course Description

Guided Autobiography brings people together to record significant memories in their lives. This is not a memoir writing course, but rather a group process where
students work on a specific theme every week to recall and record a life/event/memory. This process is a research-based program developed by Dr. James Birren at UCLA. It provides a safe, enriching and fun environment for people to share and support one another in their work. Participants are guided through the writing process and come away with a short anthology of stories they can augment over time. The point is that no one should leave their important stories left untold. Participants don't have to be writers. Everyone is a storyteller.

Learner Outcomes

Participants will learn techniques for accessing memories and storytelling. They will have increased confidence in their ability to write. They will be inspired to continue recording and sharing their stories with others, whether it be with family, friends or for publication to a larger audience.
