IELP0390 - Chatting with Americans

Course Description

This class offers non-native English speakers the opportunity to practice speaking with everyday Americans. Students in this class practice conversation skills with a wide variety of individuals throughout this seven-week session. These conversation partner “guests” will visit the class each week to talk about world cultures, answer questions about American culture and current events, or offer advice about American life in the United States. The instructors leading the class will provide discussion topics but students are encouraged to come prepared with questions that are already on their minds. Here are some topics that get the conversations started: Professions, shopping, best restaurants, local sports, music, technology, theater, movies, best vacations, planning and participating in social events, and what should visitors know about Philadelphia and the United States.
