Communication Skills for Strengths-based Leaders
Communication plays a key role in creating an empowering workplace and engaging employees. In this workshop participants will learn and practice strengths-based communication techniques that will improve relationships and improve results. Leaders will identify practical strategies to try in their organization such as powerful questions, communicating through conflict, and how to turn complaints into actionable statements of value. Additionally, participants will reflect on the need for self-care and stress management.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify and practice basic strengths-based communication techniques:
- Active Listening
- Powerful Questions
- Language of Commitment
- Identify strategies to support self-care for oneself and for one’s team
All cancellation/transfer requests must be in writing via email to email@example.com and received by the Temple University Harrisburg staff before becoming effective.
**Please note: If a cancellation and/or transfer request is not made and the registrant does not attend the course as originally scheduled, the registrant is still responsible for payment for the scheduled course.
Cancellation requests received ten (10) business days or more prior to the start of the scheduled course will be eligible for a full refund of fees paid.
Cancellations received less than 10 business days prior to the start of the scheduled course will be subject to a cancellation fee of $30.00.
Cancellations received less than three (3) business days prior to the start of the scheduled course will not be eligible for a refund.

In the event of inclement weather (applies to in-person classes only), Temple University Harrisburg will make every effort to cancel events with as much advance notice as possible. Notification will be sent via email/CE Systems once a decision to close or delay has been made. In all instances, TUH will follow the University’s cancellation decisions.
Request to Transfer
If you cannot make a workshop and wish to transfer to a future workshop, you must submit a request to be transferred in writing via email to Carolyn Truchon at firstname.lastname@example.org and the request must be received by the Temple University Harrisburg staff before becoming effective.
Transfer requests received ten (10) business days or more prior to the start of the scheduled course will be eligible for a one-time transfer at no cost. Additional transfer requests or requests less than 10 days prior to the start of the course will be subject to a $15.00 administrative fee.
To obtain Social Work Continuing Education Hours, please complete the following items:
- Pay the Continuing Education Fee of $20 (optional choice at check-out)
- Attend Zoom session and complete all required Canvas work.
- Complete the online request form
- Complete the Course Evaluation after attending
This workshop has been approved for 7 continuing education hours, 4 of which are via home study, through Temple University Harrisburg, a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors pre-approved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal. Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg.
