Course Description

Many music teachers today are concerned about resilience and attention in students. Audation Jam will feature music-related mindfulness, yoga, and resilience experiences that can assist students to develop a sense of well-being and assist teachers with their own resilience and wellness.

Audiation Jam mornings will be devoted to singing, mindfulness, choral audiation, and development of beginning or advanced audiation, improvisation, and composition skills. Afternoons will feature singing and body music, movement, beginning and advanced ukulele, special topics in early childhood music and elementary general vocal music, and mindful yoga.

Monday through Friday, June 24-28, 2019

8:00AM - 12:00 noon: Singing, Mindfulness, Choral Audiation, Beginning and Advanced Audiation, Improvisation and Composition, and Audiation Orff ensemble

1:00PM – 6:00 pm: Movement, Singing and Body Music, Beginning and Advanced Ukulele, Mindful Yoga

Classes will meet in Presser Hall, 2001 N. 13th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122 (on Temple's main campus)

Notes

REGISTRATION AND FEES

  • Registration will open February 6, 2019. Final registration deadline is June 10, 2019.
  • All fees are due upon registration and are non-refundable. Exceptions will be made only in case of documented medical emergencies. Registration is not considered final and complete until full payment is received.
  • There is a $50 late registration fee for any registrations or payments received after June 10, 2019.

REQUIRED FEES (non-refundable)

Workshop registration fee: $700

OPTIONAL FEES
Audiation Jam is available for 3 Undergraduate or Graduate credit hours at Temple University. Registration for Temple credit will become available in late March, 2019. Please contact Dr. Beth Bolton if you plan to enroll for Temple University credit.

Boyer graduate students may use the Audiation Jam course taken for university credit as an elective in their graduate degree program.

Credit fees range from $773 per credit (in-state undergraduate tuition) to $1,383 per credit (out-of-state graduate tuition).

*** Registration for Temple credit must be complete and paid before the course begins on June 24. Contact Asst. Dean David Brown to register for Temple University credit.

HOUSING/MEALS/PARKING

Housing fees range from $61 per night (on-campus housing in Morgan Hall North dormitory to $150 per night (downtown hotel).

Check in June 23, 2019. Check out June 28, 2019. Total $328 per person (Includes $22 linen fee for the week).


  1. You may purchase individual meals at your convenience at a variety of campus locations. Individual meals or meal plans are available in the dorm. The meal plan may not be the most economical or convenient plan because some evenings will feature evening activities, including group dinners or picnics.

PARKING
Overnight parking is available on the street near the dormitory.
