Course Description
Course Description: This course will focus on the ethical values, conflicts, and dilemmas that exist in daily social work practice. This course will utilize a variety of theoretical lenses to increase social workers' insights into ethics as it relates to social work practice, social justice, and service. The course will include a critical examination of major ethical challenges that social workers face, particularly in direct practice. The 3-hour course will also include a section on the importance of social work supervision and mentoring to address complicated ethical problems evoked in direct practice.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to do the following:
- Apply ethical principles from the NASW Code of Ethics (and other ethical theories and models) to daily social work practice
- Critically analyze current value dilemmas and tensions in the field (including a focus on social justice issues involving vulnerable populations, human rights, multiculturalism, coerced treatment, managed care, mental illness, and violence)
- Experience increased confidence in becoming a competent and ethically-informed practitioner
When participants return to the workplace, they will be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior
- Engage diversity and difference in practice
