Course Description

Take inspiration from the 187-acre Ambler Campus Arboretum while creating a series of botanical plant studies on paper that join drawing with water based media. Located just 15 miles north of Temple University Main Campus, the Ambler Campus is a living laboratory that blends charming historic gardens from the 1920s with demonstration projects that reflect contemporary environmental concerns. In this workshop you will incorporate contour line drawings with ink and watercolor painting to produce larger works on paper. Working from observation, you will explore the colors, shapes and beauty that nature provides when examined up close. Bringing foraged specimens into the studio, and visiting sites on the grounds will offer a range of plant subjects particular to the extensive archive of natural wonders provided by the Ambler Campus. No previous experience is required for this workshop, only a genuine interest in nature and art. Appropriate for all levels.
