Course Description

English for STEM is a project-based enrichment course that aims to help students at intermediate and high intermediate levels learn the specialized language required for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). This active class is appropriate for all language learners, including those preparing for STEM courses and careers. Students will develop receptive skills by reading and listening to science-oriented news items. They will work on the productive skills needed for writing short texts including emails and descriptive paragraphs and short essays. They will also develop the skills required for taking part in spoken interactions, including describing characteristics and processes, giving and following instructions, and presenting facts and data. The course will use the sustainability initiatives at Temple University as an active addition to the classroom.
