IELP4201 - Level 8 - Advanced Writing

Course Description

The focus of Advanced Writing 1 is to produce clear, well-structured process and comparison essays. Specifically, students will collaboratively analyze and discuss sample essays to understand the various writing styles of these two essay types. They will also analyze selected reading topics and incorporate information from outside sources into their own writing. Students will then work to develop topic and thesis statements, outline and produce first drafts, and engage in the revision process. Students will also analyze the implications of plagiarism to understand why this practice is important. Relevant grammar, vocabulary, and writing structures will be taught in the context of the student’s writing.
