Course Description

Join photographer and educator Patricia Swanson for this one-week introduction to the world of traditional black & white film photography and darkroom printing. Emphasis will be placed on composition and technical skills that will enhance your understanding of the photographic medium as you learn the manual functions of your 35mm film camera. Through demos and one-on-one instruction, you will be introduced to the full process of developing film and creating prints in the darkroom. Gain knowledge of film developing chemistry and printing techniques, including contrast control, dodging and burning, and print presentation. Spend the week with other adult students in a supportive environment, and take advantage of Tyler’s state-of-the-art photography facilities as you create interesting and dynamic images from capture to print! Appropriate for all levels, 35mm camera required.
