HRLD0368 - Investigate Now to be Ready For (or Maybe Avoid) Arbitration Later
Course Description
When issues occur in the workplace, a good investigation is key to laying the groundwork for a successful end result. In a unionized environment, a good investigation sets the University up for success at arbitration and may even convince the union to forgo arbitration. A fair investigation also reduces the chance that employees will bring other types of claims and enhances the likelihood of success if claims are brought. This session for supervisors will discuss investigation best practices including how to prepare for and conduct the investigation, making the discipline determination and meeting with employees to deliver discipline. It will also cover documentation and responding to union and employee requests for information.
