Course Description

Your Temple orientation doesn’t have to end at Main Campus. Come and see a different side of Temple University with the OWLventure Program, an overnight experience at the beautiful Ambler Campus and Arboretum. You will build positive connections with other new Owls, develop your capacity to lead, and gain perseverance for your new TU journey through participation in multiple outdoor activities.

The program includes 1-night of tent camping plus a low ropes challenge course experience, teambuilding activities, a pool party, evening s’mores around the campfire, and more!

The program cost is $40 and includes all food and transportation to and from Main Campus to Ambler Campus. All camping gear (tents, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags) are provided. You should bring own pillow, sheet and/or blanket if needed. Requires no prior experience – just the desire to have a great time and create lasting friendships with other incoming students!

Course Outline

There are 2 sections of this offering.

AMBCHAL0006-003 is scheduled for Tuesday, July 29 through Wednesday, July 30, 2025. A Temple bus will leave Main campus at 5:30 PM on July 29, and students will leave Ambler campus on July 30 at 2:00 PM. For more details on the July course offering, click into Section 3 on the right side of the screen.

AMBCHAL0006-004 is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 through Wednesday, August 20, 2025. A Temple bus will leave Main campus at 9:00 AM on August 19 and students will leave Ambler campus on August 20 at 12Noon. For more details on the August course offering, click into Section 4 on the right side of the screen.

This section is scheduled for July 29 and 20, 2025. An intercampus bus will leave Main Campus at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, July 29, and again will leave Ambler Campus at 2 PM on Wednesday, July 30.

Program Schedule:

Day 1

5:30 PM: Students take the shuttle bus from Main Campus

6:30 PM: Students get oriented, move into tents, engage in get to know you activities, and enjoy our BBQ Pool Party

9:00 PM: Students participate in night activities (nature exploration, orienteering, etc.)

10:00 PM: Campfire reflection activity

10:00 PM to 6:00 AM - Township quiet hours

7:30 AM: Continental Breakfast and cleanup tents/campsite

8:30 AM:  Low Ropes Challenge Course experience - focusing on tools and skills to prepare for college, relationships, and difficult decision making

12:00 PM: Picnic Lunch 

1:00 PM: Closing ceremony and Intention Setting

2:00 PM: Students board shuttle bus back to Main Campus

3:00 PM: Arrive back at Main Campus

1:15 PM - Activity Block #1: Each group will rotate through stations, including the Ambler Arboretum, the Low Ropes Challenge Course, a Mindfulness Session, etc.

5:45 PM: Students enjoy pool party and BBQ dinner
