Course Description

Kate Kleinert, AARP Fraud Watch Network, National Spokesperson will share her experience in a romance scam. Her tale of love, loss, and resilience gives an insider’s perspective of the tactics used, how the scam developed, and its ramifications. Kate also discusses barriers in approaching the matter with others.

David P. Shallcross, Director of Senior Protection, PA Office of the Attorney General will discuss why seniors are susceptible to fraud and financial exploitation, and provide an overview of both stranger-based scams and financial exploitation committed by people known to the seniors. The presentation highlights popular scams, methods of financial exploitation, red flags, and scam prevention methods.

Afterward, David and Kate will be joined by Donna Creager, Institute on Protective Services, for a question-and-answer session.
