Movies about trials have always excited the imagination of theater audiences and of filmmakers. Through the use of selected film clips a veteran trial lawyer will explain how the movies and real life can be very different experiences. The class will include lectures and class discussion. The movies in this course are: Inherit the Wind, My Cousin Vinnie, Judgement at Nuremberg, A Few Good Men, A Man for All Seasons, 12 Angry Men and Chicago.
Maximum in-person registrants: 40
If you are enrolled in an in-person course, you will be required to:
- follow current public health guidelines, which may include masking and social distancing, and are subject to change, while on campus.
- provide proof of vaccination, or request a medical or religious exemption, prior to your first day of class. Students who have an approved exemption will be required to test for COVID-19 at least once a week.
- obtain a noncredit OwlCard. An OwlCard is a Temple-specific photo ID that will give you access to campus buildings and classrooms.
Why when I’m registering do I join the Wait List?
Several of our courses are in high demand. In order to accommodate our members who are not tech-savvy and have trouble registering online, we created a registration system in which there is no advantage to registering early, no disadvantage to registering later.
When registering, you join the Wait List for each course. Don’t be alarmed. This does not mean the course is full. After the registration period is over, we run a lottery on the courses, and it randomly determines who is admitted to each course and who is not. You typically will receive notification regarding which courses you are admitted to, about two weeks before the start of the semester. If a course accepts 150 or more students, you are very likely to get into it.
