Course Description

 This course builds your math skills for practical applications such as : workforce development, post-secondary preparation, college math success.  Students who have completed a GED credential will want to attend this course to transition to the next level.   Learners with High School diplomas  may use this course to prepare for credit bearing math courses in college or entry level math for apprenticeship programs and employment.                                                                                                                                 Instructor Akil Parker is a 10-year veteran high school mathematics teacher in the Philadelphia school system.  He has a B.S. in finance from Morgan State University and is working towards a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Lincoln University. He teaches at World Communications Charter School in Philadelphia where his focus is Precalculus.

Course Fee: $25.00 (10 Weeks) Tuesdays, 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of this course is to prepare students for introductory college algebra courses. Students will gain self-confidence when attending credit bearing algebra courses in college. If you have completed your GED credential and plan to attend college or apply for apprenticeships, training, or employment, you will want to take this course to pass math assessments.

Instructor Akil Parker is a 13-year veteran high school mathematics teacher in the Philadelphia Public School system. He holds a BS in finance from Morgan State University and MEd in Educational Leadership from Lincoln University. He currently teaches at Overbrook High School where his focus is geometry and statistics.
