Course Description

In this course students will explore a brief history of Dynastic Egypt and the Central Tenets of Ancient Egyptian Philosophy. Major topics covered are the definition of the soul and the possibility of its immortality, Ma’at, Women of the Monarchy & Political Philosophy,

Symbolism, Attributes & Iconographies of the goddesses/gods, and the Didactics of Tutankhamen’s Golden Mask. This course will allow the student to synthesize Ancient Egypt from an Afrocentric Epistemological purview removing cultural biases that had their incipiency in Modern Euro Centric Scholarship (circa 1400 - 1850 CE), particularly Philosophy and History.
