Course Description

As hard as it may be to believe, all black people (regardless of age, gender, socioeconomic status, domicile, or religious and political affiliations) are “addicted” to a white value system disorder predicated on narcissism, greed, and violence which is maintained by the historical shaming of Africans. In order to heal, Africans of “all stripes” must gather together, grounded in the self-help philosophy that nothing so much ensures immunity from active addiction as intensive work with fellow recovering addicts. This course will introduce students to a tested protocol for recovering from white-value “addiction” and all of its self-defeating behavioral consequences.

INTRODUCTION:

This course will examine how western (white) values reinforce the divide between black and white people. It will also examine the clash between oppressive white values and the “bedrock” ideals of western democracies like “liberty and justice for all”. While the ideas presented in this course will be evaluated on the basis of their own inherent merits or demerits, the mere process of tussling with them may stir students’ creative problem-solving “juices” as they consider the perverse complementary between the oppressed and the oppressor locked in a shame-based alliance.

OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this course, the students will be able to:

  • List the five values that implicate the oppressed in their own oppression.
  • Discuss the social and political implications of each value and of the entire values-detoxification procedure described in the course textbook (see above).
  • Reflect upon and discuss their “immersive” experience of having fully participated in a mock demonstration of the values detoxification strategy described in the course textbook (see above).
