Revisiting Second Wave Feminism in Philadelphia 1960-1980

Critiques of Second Wave Feminism have flourished in recent years often diminishing the historic advances made during that time. This course revisits the impact of Second Wave Feminism on what happened in Philadelphia, placing those changes in historical perspective. Leaders from several organizations emerging from the women’s liberation movement will speak to the challenges they faced and overcame.

Instructor’s Bio:

Cynthia Little holds a doctorate in history from Temple University. During graduate school in the 1970s, she co- founded Feminist Tours, the first women’s history tour company. Since then she has been involved with women’s history, both locally and nationally, as one of the founders of National Women’s History Month. She has worked as an historian, educator, and curator on exhibitions, programs, and large-scale history projects. Throughout her career she has advocated for bringing forward women’s historical experience.
