First we explore the paintings, sculpture, and architecture of the Italian High Renaissance, looking at works by Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Next, we survey the dramatic art and architecture of 17th Century Rome in the era known as the Baroque. In session three, we examine the 18thC “Golden Age of British Art” by studying celebrated British painters, from portraitists Gainsborough and Reynolds, to landscape artists Constable and Turner.
