Course Description

Note: This is a three-hour Protective Services Enrichment training. Participants will be required to take a minimum of three more enrichment hours to meet OAPS requirements.

The older adult population is at high risk of brain injuries, which can have a lasting effect on their cognitive, physical, and emotional health. This training provides protective services caseworkers with information to assist them when working with individuals with a brain injury. The material covers types of brain injuries, common causes, possible long-term consequences and effects, interventions that can help individuals with a brain injury, and screening.

Presented by the Department of Health & the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania.

  • Individual registration is required.
  • Enrollment is only available to adult protective services (APS) and older adults protective services (OAPS) staff and is not available to the public.

To receive Protective Services credit hours, participants are required to:

  • Participate in the live training (via Zoom)
  • Cameras are not required during this training. Learners' engagement during the training will be captured by the Zoom platform.  Certificates of completion will only be given to those attendees who participate throughout the entire training.
