Course Description

This course is designed to cover history and evolution of dental materials as well as contemporary dental materials including restorative materials, cements, bonding agents. Fundamentals and clinical application of these materials in daily practice will be covered.

Learner Outcomes

Upon course completion, you will:

  • Be able to distinguish between the materials available in dentistry today.
  • Understand the indications for each material.
  • Understand the advantages and limitations of materials.
  • Learn about bonding/cementation protocol for each material.

Dr. Nupur Patel

Dr. Patel is a Board-certified Prosthodontist. Dr. Patel completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from India before moving the the United States. She then completed DMD through the Program for Advanced Standing Students at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry. She obtained her Certificate in Prosthodontics and Master of Science in Oral Biology from University of Pennsylvania and a Fellowship in Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Currently, Dr. Patel is an Clinical Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at Maurice H Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and has received multiple awards from local and national organizations. Dr. Patel is a member of the American College of Prosthodontists, American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics as well as the American Dental Association and has presented multiple posters at national and international meetings.
