"Truth: A Matter of Life and Death"

Description: Join us this term on five life and death literary quests. Enter a haunted bookstore and pass through even greater haunted times in Louise Erdrich’s The Sentence. Shadow a Hollywood actress investigating the mysterious disappearance of an aviatrix in Maggie Shipstead’s Great Circle. Travel to Appalachia with Shawna Kay Rodenberg in her piercing memoir Kin. Discover the origin of a powerful banking family’s fortune in Henan Diaz’s Booker-Prize winning Trust. Finally, follow a Hispanic teenager into the desert in her desperate mission to see justice done in Steve Almond’s All the Secrets of the World.

Instructor: Miriam Camitta, PhD, (Folklore and Folklife, University of Pennsylvania) and MFA (Bennington Writing Seminars) is a writer, an editor, and a life-long educator who has taught the Book Discussion Class at Temple/Ambler for almost twenty years.
