Course Description

 

In this course students will receive a grounding in understanding the fundamental concepts of Microsoft Excel basic such as learning the Excel Interactive Development Environment (IDE), cell formatting, entering formulas, using named ranges, using functions, creating charts and print setup as they complete Payroll Foundations and Trade Discount spreadheets. Students will also complete Amoritization Schedule and Sales Analysis spreadsheets as they build on their basic skill sets and learn to utilize complex Excel features such as nested formulas, relative and absolute reference, comments, import files, Pivot Tables, Macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

Instructor: Maurice E. Kennedy has a forty-year career in information technology. His expertise is in network administration, business software development, and computer science instruction. His focus has been to maintain secure and efficient infrastructures, produce comprehensive, intuitive business application solutions and to empower his business partners and students to master the theory and required technical skills to successfully compete for job opportunities on the open market. This semester, the class will build a Patient Billing System as we learn how to utilize an extensive array of Excel tools and techniques.
