Course Description

Course 1 in the Foundations in Project Management Certificate program. Participants are introduced to modern project management practices using PMBOK® 8 and develop a stakeholder-aligned project charter that defines purpose, scope boundaries, success criteria, and governance alignment.                                                                                                                        

Learner Outcomes

  • Explain how projects support organizational strategy using PMBOK® 8 principles 
  • Distinguish projects from programs and operational work 
  • Describe the purpose and structure of a project charter 
  • Draft a project charter defining purpose, stakeholders, scope boundaries, and success criteria 
  • Identify assumptions and constraints affecting project initiation
