TOPICS AND DESCRIPTIONS
A Supervisor’s Role in Case Closure (5/27/2026, 3-hours)
Presenter: Adrienne Gardina
Case closure is an opportunity to ensure that each investigation was conducted thoroughly, determinations were made accurately, service plans were offered when applicable, and services were implemented to the fullest extent possible. It is also a time to ensure that documentation clearly supports the work completed and the decisions made.
This session will discuss a supervisor’s role in case closure, strategies for handling difficult situations, and tips and best practices for effective case closure.
Supervising in the age of Generative AI (6/3/2026, 90 minutes)
Presenter: Caroline Burnell
Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) is everywhere. It is taking notes during meetings, creating content, editing reports, developing personalized medical treatment, communicating with clients, and performing many other time-saving activities. As supervisors, it is important to understand how Gen AI works, its drawbacks, and where it can be used safely. Improper use of Gen AI can lead to a breach of confidential information, inaccurate or biased information being circulated, and could possibly make our documentation inadmissible in court proceedings.
Leading with Emotional Intelligence (6/3/2026, 90 minutes)
Presenter: Donna Creager
Protective Services supervisors carry immense responsibility — guiding complex investigations, supporting staff through high-stress decisions, and ensuring accurate documentation and risk assessment. Research consistently shows that emotionally intelligent supervision strengthens worker engagement, improves decision-making under pressure, increases psychological safety, and reduces burnout. These factors directly influence the quality and consistency of protective services practice.
This training emphasizes that supervisors who cultivate emotional intelligence build stronger, more stable teams and achieve better outcomes. When supervisors understand their own leadership style and emotional patterns, they improve not only how they manage tasks, but how they support people.
