Course Description

This course looks at the sociological issues surrounding money as a mechanism and medium of exchange. The course covers history of money and the development of finance. The course also explores the role of money in shaping lives: friendship patterns, life chances, educational opportunities, and health and well-being. Students will learn about structural changes in the economy that stem from the globalization of money.

This course will be meeting T, TH from 9:30-10:50AM on Temple University's main campus from Monday, January 12th  through Tuesday, May 5, 2026 in Wachman Hall, Room 109
