CDE1853 - Implant Planning with BlueSky Bio and Printing Your Surgical Guides - Hands On
Course Description
The Perfect Introduction to the world of Digital Implant Planning and 3D Printing. Patients will always have predictable and restorable outcomes when implant placement is virtually planned prior to surgery. This hands on interactive course will feature scanning, design of implant surgical guides and 3D printing in your office. We will utilize Bluesky Bio software available for free online and an inexpensive 3D printer that can easily be incorporated into your office for minimal cost. Each participant will have the opportunity to plan a few cases to get accustomed to the workflow.
Learner Outcomes
Upon course completion, the participant will:
- Explain the core principles of digital implant planning and describe how virtual planning enhances the predictability and restorability of implant procedures.
- Perform intraoral or desktop scans of a dental arch, import scan data into BlueSky Bio software, and begin virtual implant planning using the platform’s tools.
- Design at least one implant surgical guide using BlueSky Bio software, demonstrating understanding of key elements such as anatomical landmarks, guide positioning, and implant trajectory.
- Operate a desktop 3D printer to fabricate a surgical guide, including all steps: file preparation, printer setup, printing, and post-processing.
- Outline the basic clinical, technical, and financial requirements for integrating digital implant planning and 3D printing workflows into a dental practice.
