Course Description

This 2-day workshop is designed for those who love plants and who would like to experience the joy of painting them. Whether a beginner or an artist with experience, this is a workshop for you. Warm, Rich and Deep Colors of Autumn Subjects is intended as an opportunity to take the first steps into botanical painting and as a refresher for those with a little more experience. We will combine simple techniques, color theory, and detailed observation to capture the beauty and interesting textures of our subjects. Participants will enhance their skills in realistic rendering, and watercolor painting, learning new methods for working with botanical subjects.

Instructor Mary Dillon is an Irish botanical artist with a passion for capturing the intricate beauty of plants and flowers. Mary’s work belongs in the Hunt Institute for Botanical Art and Documentation in Pittsburgh and the Dr. Shirley Sherwood Collection in Kew. With a background in both art and education, she regularly exhibits with the American Society of Botanical Artists. Her work was awarded ‘Best in Show’ at the ASBA 25th International at Wave Hill in New York. She is dedicated to teaching the art of botanical painting to budding artists worldwide. Mary will provide one-on-one guidance throughout the workshop, ensuring each participant receives personalized attention to develop their unique style and technique.
