Course Description

Un-balanced or structurally-weak growth is a common, unintended consequence of large-scale nursery tree production methods. When you plant a new tree for your client, a quick analysis and a few strategic pruning cuts can correct these issues and set your tree up for stronger, healthier future growth. Through this hands-on, outdoor workshop, learn how to recognize and remove these problems with hand tools based on tree species and long-term landscape goals.

Which Way Should I Grow? Formative Pruning of Young Trees is taught by ISA Certified Arborist and Ambler Arboretum Plant Records Curator, Anne Brennan. Anne worked as an independent pruning specialist for residential and institutional clients before taking her current role as Plant Records Curator at the Ambler Arboretum. She has been an ISA Certified Arborist since 2007, holds a B.S. in Horticultural Science from Penn State University, and enjoys improving the lives of landscape trees and shrubs through pruning.

Attendees should bring pruning shears and a pruning saw.

By attending this workshop, professionals can earn 3 CEU's through the International Society of Arboriculture.
