Course Description

The “Advancing Basic Computer Skills for Career Seekers” initiative, herein referred to as ABC Skills initiative will intentionally leverage, connect and expand Temple’s workforce development and digital literacy training programs offered through Temple University’s Lenfest Center for Community Workforce Partnerships, Digital Equity Center, and Charles Library. The initiative's goal is to enhance jobseekers’ digital literacy skills for securing and retaining employment in careers offering family-sustaining wages. The ABC Skills Initiative will enroll and provide coordinated services to 75 job seekers between July 1, 2024 and April 30, 2026.

The ABC Skills Initiative curriculum focuses on digital fundamentals, digital job seeking, digital citizenship and digital navigation – which will be covered through instructor-led in-person 12-hour “Digital Onboarding” and instructor-led in-person or virtual 6-hour “New Choices” workshop series. Participants will advance their computer skills by enrolling in supplemental virtual or in-person non-credit courses offered at Temple University and through asynchronous virtual Northstar courses.
