AOTI001 - Advanced Online Teaching Institute
Course Description
The AOTI is designed to support both moderately-experienced and highly-experienced online instructors in evaluating and improving their online course design using Universal Design for Learning principles. While there is no prerequisite, it is recommended that participants have taken the Online Teaching Institute (OTI) first. Participants will explore multimedia and generative AI, active learning techniques, alternative assessments, and inclusive and equitable teaching practices. You will engage in critical self-reflection and commit to continual improvement of teaching practices to meet students' evolving needs. The standard AOTI is a four week, asynchronous facilitated course led by CAT instructors where you will have the opportunity to discuss and learn from other faculty members. It requires a time commitment of about five hours per week. After completing the course, participants will receive a Letter of Completion and a Credly badge.
The June cohort is being offered as a summer intensive that will take place over two weeks, rather than the usual four. The course will feature collaborative activities, with the expectation of more frequent engagement over a shorter time span equaling about ten hours of total time commitment per week.
