Hospital Bills. Drug Prices. Ambulance Fees. What is the role of money in medicine, and has it gotten out of hand? Looking at the historical and moral roles of money from ancient times to modern biotechnology firms raises a series of issues. Tom Getzen, formerly Executive Director of the International Health Economics Association and author the textbook Health Economics & Financing will lead class discussions on surprise billing, Medicare Advantage plans, for-profit hospice care, nursing homes, private equity, clinical research, health insurance premiums, and related topics. Bring your questions.

Instructor Bio:

Tom Getzen taught health finance and economics at Temple University for 30 years, authored a textbook and numerous articles, and has served in a number of board, finance and executive roles at health care institutions locally and internationally.
