Course Description

Students in this course examine and analyze the art from cultures around the world, including architecture, sculpture, painting, and modern media, from ca.1300-the 21st Century. Students analyze the forms, techniques, styles, subjects, and symbolism represented in art and architecture both historically and in relation to the impact of societal beliefs and values to develop an understanding of global artistic traditions. Students employ contemporary methods in the interpretation of forms, subjects, and artistic differences and parallels. NOTE: Field trips are mandatory for this class.
