Course Description

Plot, character, and theme seamlessly collide in three historical mysteries by award-winning authors Joseph O’Connor, James McBride, and Jennifer Egan. We begin with O’Connor’s My Father’s House, a thrilling tale of pursuit and resistance set in Nazi-occupied Rome. We follow with the mysterious disappearance of a mystical character in McBride’s Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, a luminous story of community and diversity, set in the early twentieth century Chicken Hill area of Pottstown, PA. Back in World War II, we end with a young woman’s search for her father who has suspiciously vanished in Egan’s Manhattan Beach.
